Who We Help
At The Confident Mind, we believe in bringing the stories of the people we work with to life. To help explain how our course can make a real difference, we’ve created fictional avatars representing the types of individuals we support—employees, small business owners, senior leaders, and people in career transition.

Real Challenges, Real Growth
While these are not real people, their challenges and successes are based on real clients and experiences we’ve encountered. These avatars represent common challenges and aspirations, but our support extends to people from all industries and roles; we’ve crafted these profiles to make it easy and engaging for you to understand how our course can help.
Through these stories, you’ll see how participating in our course helps you overcome obstacles, gain confidence, and grow both personally and professionally.

Employees
Name: Sarah Mitchell
Profession: Marketing Executive
Industry: Retail (e-commerce)
Sarah is skilled in digital marketing, social media management, content creation, and data analysis. She has a solid understanding of marketing strategies and consumer behaviour.
Sarah often felt she was ‘too nice’ and found it hard to say ‘no’, to colleagues and clients. She found herself apologising when she didn’t need to, and didn’t share her opinions as much as she would have liked to in team meetings. She felt overwhelmed by her workload, and worked late to keep up. She sacrificed some of the things she enjoyed, such as dance and exercise classes, and the stress affected her relationships, especially with those closest to her, like her boyfriend, Tom.
I’ve been working as a Marketing Executive for an e-commerce company for about four years now. I’m good at my job, but I often feel like I’m not assertive enough or confident in my decisions. At home, I’m usually so drained by the end of the day that I barely have any energy left for my partner, Tom or myself.
My manager suggested The Confident Mind Course, and although I was a bit sceptical, I decided to give it a go. The first module was about time management, which has always been a struggle for me. I learned about different timelines, which helped me realise why I often lose track of time when I’m working on something creative. I also learned how to break tasks down into smaller steps and prioritise more effectively. It felt amazing to finish projects ahead of deadlines and not carry the stress home with me. Tom even noticed I was more relaxed in the evenings.
Another module focused on self-belief, and this was a real eye-opener for me. I’ve always doubted myself, especially when speaking up in meetings or presenting ideas to clients. But the course helped me challenge those negative thoughts and start believing in my abilities. During a presentation, I spoke with confidence for the first time in ages—and my boss loved my ideas. That feeling of being heard was empowering.
Next came stress management, which was tough but necessary. I realised how often I let emotions, like frustration, take over, especially when dealing with difficult clients. The module gave me tools to stay calm, and now I feel more in control, even in high-pressure situations. I’m also noticing that I’m more patient and less reactive at home, which has been good for my relationship with Tom.
Finally, the decision-making module taught me to trust my gut. I’ve stopped second-guessing myself, and it’s made me more confident at work.
Looking back, The Confident Mind Course has completely transformed how I approach both work and home life. I feel more capable, less stressed, and more in control.
Small Business Owners
Name: Jack Thomson
Profession: Business Owner with 5 workers of varying experience and skills.
Industry: Carpentry
Jack is highly skilled in various carpentry techniques and takes pride in the quality of his work.; He’s a great problem-solver, and has basic marketing skills, including social media, and networking, which he uses to attract new clients.
Jack struggled to balance the demands of running a business with his personal life. He often felt overwhelmed by admin tasks, such as bookkeeping and writing quotes. When it came to his team, he had a great rapport with them, but he found it challenging to keep them motivated. He also found it tricky to juggle multiple projects at once, and got stressed, which occasionally caused him to lose his cool, and take it out on his team members.
Before I started The Confident Mind course, I felt like I was barely holding it together. Running my business was something I was proud of, but the day-to-day challenges were piling up. Balancing everything—managing clients and keeping the team motivated was a constant struggle. The stress was real, and I often found myself waking up in the middle of the night, thinking about unfinished tasks or how I’d snapped at someone in my team.
Juggling multiple projects at once was especially stressful, and no matter how hard I tried, I felt like I was always running out of time. My decision-making suffered, and I started doubting myself. That’s when I knew I needed a change. Funnily enough, I heard about The Confident Mind through a builder I often do work for. He had already done the course and said it was life-changing for his stress levels. His recommendation convinced me to give it a try.
The course was a game-changer. One of the first things I learned was time management techniques. I used to feel like time was slipping through my fingers, but the tools I learned helped me take back control. The communication module was a big eye-opener too. I realised that half my stress came from not expressing my expectations clearly enough to my team. Now, we have regular check-ins, and I’ve become more confident in giving feedback—both positive and constructive.
Stress management was another crucial part of the course. I had no idea how much my own stress was affecting everyone around me. The techniques I learned helped me stay calm, even when things felt like they were spiralling. I also started believing in myself more. I wasn’t just making decisions out of panic anymore—I was trusting my instincts again, which felt good.
Now, months later, I can see the impact. I’m more in control, my team is more engaged, (I’m not snapping at them anymore), and I can balance my business demands without constantly feeling stressed. The Confident Mind didn’t just improve my work—it gave me my confidence back.

Senior Leaders
Name: Joanne West
Profession: CEO with a background in business strategy
Industry: Pharmaceuticals
Joanne is the CEO of a fast-growing pharmaceutical company that is scaling rapidly. Her leadership has been critical in navigating complex market dynamics, driving innovation, and expanding the company’s product pipeline. She is a forward-thinking leader with a deep passion for innovation in healthcare.
Joanne felt she was constantly juggling. The company’s rapid growth meant scaling operations while maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance. In a very competitive industry, Joanne was under constant pressure to innovate, bringing new products to market within tight deadlines. She was struggling to cultivate leadership within her team, leading to bottlenecks in decision-making and over-reliance on her as CEO. This was a source of stress, along with tension between creativity and practicality as she needed to ensure that product launches were both groundbreaking and timely. As the company grew, Joanne found it increasingly difficult to ensure that all departments were aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
I love being a leader and care deeply about my work. The rapid growth of the company has been very exciting, but as it escalated, I realised I needed some fresh strategies to address the challenges I was facing. I had some positive experience with NLP techniques from previous management training and when The Confident Mind course was recommended to me by an ex-colleague it sounded like a good solution.
From the word go the course proved to be very effective, giving me fresh perspectives on a number of work challenges and practical techniques to create change. As we progressed there were many light- bulb moments. The communication module was particularly powerful as I realised how crucial it was to take time out to reflect on my actions and approaches from the viewpoint of others, particularly members of my management team.
The course has helped me refine my leadership style, becoming more empathetic with a better understanding of how to motivate and inspire the individuals in my team. I have understood how to delegate more effectively and empower others to take ownership of key responsibilities. This frees me to focus more on long-term strategy and high-impact decisions.
Which brings me to decision–making. For me perhaps the greatest impact of the course has come from the sessions on decision making. The strategies I learnt have been instrumental in my taking a more balanced approach to crucial choices and the benefits of this are already evident. We are more aligned as a business and on track to achieve beyond expectations in the next year.
Lastly, when I decided to sign up to the course, I did not anticipate the degree to which it would impact my life personally as well as professionally. I am a single parent with a teenage son who had been experiencing challenges with anxiety about exams and overall self-belief. The techniques I learnt in the stress management and self-belief modules of this course have helped me to help him in a way that I know will have a massive impact on his future. Both he and I now have more ‘Confident Minds’
People in Career Transition
Name: Nikhil (Nik) Das
Profession: Senior Finance Manager
Industry: Charities/ Not for Profit
Nik is an experienced financial analyst who has worked across business partnering, management and financial accounting in a number of not-for-profit organisations. He is passionate about using his expertise to support meaningful missions.
Nik was made redundant after being with one organisation for over 5 years. He decided to take a bit of time out to consider his options and fulfil some personal goals including completing his qualifications as a Personal Trainer. He built up a small PT client base but quickly realised that he missed working in a bigger context where he felt he was using his skills to contribute to something he considered worthwhile. As he returned to looking for a new role he recognised that he had lost confidence in his ability to ‘sell’ himself in a very competitive job market and was procrastinating about making job applications because he was afraid to ‘fail’.
I met Jenni when she did some work with my previous organisation, so I when I realised how challenging I was finding it to get back into the job market I decided to ask her advice. Jenni recommended I join one of the free webinars run by The Confident Mind focused on a technique for overcoming procrastination. Having found this extremely helpful I decided to invest in The Confident Mind course.
The first session left me feeling like someone had turned the lights on in my brain! Some of the basic principles that Sue and Jenni explained helped me understand what had happened in my mind after the redundancy and made me realise that I really could do something about it.
The time management sessions were a further revelation. I had always thought of myself as ‘good at’ time management but in the months of job search time had felt like my enemy and I was wasting far too much of it. I came to understand why I felt this way and learnt practical strategies that allowed me to get on top of things. This made me feel better about myself, which was compounded by the sessions on self-belief. My confidence grew and I started to be much more pro-active in my job-search.
The communication module was invaluable in helping me prepare for conversations with recruiters, approaches to people in my network and, I am pleased to say, with interviews, which I started to get. The stress management strategies I learnt on the course allowed me to prepare myself well and stay calm and focused within the interview process. Also invaluable was the principle of ‘no failure only feedback’, so when I didn’t get a job, I concentrated on all that I had learnt from the experience to help me next time around.
A few months on I can also relate that the decision-making strategies we explored on the course have been put into action. I was delighted to receive two job offers and used the technique to choose which one to go for! I made the right decision – the role is a great fit. The confidence I gained from the course is helping me make the best of the opportunities and enjoy the challenges it offers.
‘The Confident Mind’ course made a huge difference to my experience of career transition. It has also given me skills that I can use daily in my new role and pass on to my colleagues. I have realised that the most important thing you need when looking for a new role is a strong belief in yourself.
